About Your P&C
From our Newsletter 9 February 2018
Dear Parents and School Community,
Welcome back to school everyone! What a year ahead of us; lots of activity and lots of challenges already upon us before school even starts!
First and foremost I would like to express my best wishes to Philippa Berkhout who had her last day at school on Friday of last week. As Principal, Philippa implemented so many positive elements to how we undertake education, look after the children at our school and I, as well as the rest of the P&C, wish her the best for her future and thank her from our hearts for all her help. Although I have only worked with her for the last few months as President, she has always been a positive energetic powerhouse of knowledge and history of the school which together with the absence of Neil King will always be a challenge to replace.
But rise to the challenge we will! I look forward to working with Daniel Bergin our new Principal this year. I would also like to welcome Kevin Hogg, our new Deputy Principal taking over the reins from Neil King. Please connect with our new leadership, be involved in the school board – it’s your school.
Now on to the P&C. Lots of things to chat about!
First up, if anyone has any suggestions, desires or would like to be involved in the P&C WE NEED YOU! With 6-7 people leaving in March 2018, with new school leadership and challenges with volunteers for P&C activities, please put your hand up to come help! I invite anyone that wishes to come have a coffee with me or organise a kids play date and invite me along to chat about the P&C and what we are up to and how people can help. There is so much we can do, that I want to do, but this year I see challenges ahead with having the people to help! Even just an hour or so of your time once a week will help out so much.
The Family Picnic will be on the school grounds after 5pm on Friday the 16th of March. The evening will consist of games, a Treasure Hunt, events, coffee, school banking and lots of great people chatting and socialising together. Please pencil the date on your fridge and come along to enjoy the evening with your school community.
School banking is continuing to be represented by Kylie Shipard but we still need more volunteers to help her! Just people to help out on Wednesday mornings before assembly. Please get in touch with me and I will connect you.
I would like to thank Lucinda for her ongoing amazing efforts in ensuring parents have access to our second hand uniform stock and sales. A big “Thank you” to her and all the volunteers that helped with opening the shop on Tuesday before school started; PLEASE keep up the connections and volunteering with Lucinda so she can keep the shop open before assembly every Wednesday. Many hands make light work and everyone’s help is appreciated.
I have many other things I want to talk about; but let’s leave that for the next newsletter as everyone gets back into the swing of kids going to school.
I would like to ensure you all know about our next P&C meeting on the 13th of February at 18:30 in the school staff meeting room. Please come and join in on our meeting! Get involved!
